Zahid Miyan
Prof. Zahid Miyan (MCPS, MD) is a Professor of Medicine at the Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology (BIDE), Baqai Medical University, Karachi. He also serves as Director of BIDE and Head of its Department of Diabetic Foot Care. He is the Chairman of the MENA Region for D-Foot International and has previously held leadership roles as Vice President of D-Foot International and President of the National Association of Diabetes Educators of Pakistan. He is currently the Chairman of the Pakistan Working Group on the Diabetic Foot and serves as Project Director for three major national initiatives: Saving Limbs in Pakistan (SLiP), Footwear for Every Diabetic (FED), and the ongoing project Implementation of Guidelines from Evidence to Practice. Prof. Miyan is actively engaged in education and capacity building. He is the Program Lead for the Train the Trainer Foot Program in the MENA region and Director of the Diabetic Foot Training Program for healthcare professionals in Pakistan. He has authored publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has presented extensively at global conferences. His primary areas of interest include the diabetic foot, multidisciplinary models of care, and affordable footwear solutions for low-resource settings. Through his pioneering work, he has made significant contributions to advancing limb salvage strategies and strengthening diabetic foot care services in Pakistan, leaving a lasting impact on prevention and management in the region.
