Dimitri Beeckman
Professor Dimitri Beeckman is an internationally recognized nursing scientist and academic leader, specializing in skin integrity, wound care, and healthcare innovation. He holds professorships at Örebro University (Sweden) and Ghent University (Belgium), and serves as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation at Örebro University, where he leads the institution’s global strategy and the NEOLAiA European University alliance. At Ghent University, Professor Beeckman is the programme director of the MSc in Nursing and Midwifery, overseeing a future-focused curriculum with majors in clinical nurse specialization, implementation science, and research. He also holds visiting professorships at the University of Southern Denmark, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and Monash University in Australia. His research focuses on skin and wound care, pressure injury prevention, incontinence-associated dermatitis, and the use of artificial intelligence in nursing. He is the founder of the Skin Integrity Research Group (SKINT) and is affiliated with the Swedish Centre for Skin and Wound Research (SCENTR). His work has been published widely and has shaped clinical guidelines and practice internationally. As President of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA), Professor Beeckman is committed to advancing collaborative, evidence-based solutions for improving wound care across Europe and beyond.
