Dieter Mayer Switzerland
Dr. Dieter Mayer, MD, FEBVS, FAPWCA, is Assistant Professor for Vascular Surgery with a longstanding interest in wound healing. As Director of Wound Care at the University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland, from 2001 to 2016, he established the first dedicated and truly interdisciplinary university wound clinic in Switzerland. From 2016 to 2021 he was Director of Vascular Surgery & Wound Center at the University associated Cantonal Hospital of Fribourg where he successfully introduced a variety of new techniques and clinical studies for skin substitutes in chronic wound patients. He regularly teaches students in vascular surgery and wound healing and is involved in major projects to support wound healing as a specialty of its own. As a wound healer, Doctor Mayer networks throughout the world to support and make a difference in wound healing.
Dr. Mayer is Past Executive Director of the Swiss Association for Wound Care and past Executive Board Member of WUWHS 2022 in Abu Dhabi. In 2022, Dr. Mayer decided to fully dedicate his life to the complex field of wound healing. He is now a Research Associate and Attending Physician at University Hospital Zurich, Department of Dermatology.
